Specifications for digital materials supplied to The Echo Newspaper:

Materials can be accepted only if it meets our specifications for electronic output and our printers’ requirements.

Digital files in color must be accompanied by a color proof (PDF ok.), while B&W files must include a laser proof or PDF. We accept no responsibility for content or color accuracy where no proof has been supplied.

We can accept files created in Macintosh format only, and on the following media:

• # ZIP disk, Macintosh formatted
• # CD, Macintosh formatted

FILE Compatibility

We can accept native files created in Macintosh format only, and in the following programs:

• Illustrator format (.ai and .eps)
• Photoshop format/CMYK mode (.psd)
• Photoshop TIFF/CMYK mode (No LZW)
• Photoshop EPS (Single file, not DCS) /CMYK mode
• PDF format (If sending a pdf. High resoltion-Press Setting)
• InDesignCS2 with fonts converted to paths

Note: We do not accept Microsoft.pub formats.

FONT Compatibility

• All fonts must be supplied with your files. If none supplied we will match as close as possible.
• Only PostScript fonts are supported. We do not support True Type fonts.
• Please supply both printer and screen fonts.
• All Illustrator fonts must be converted to outline.
• Do not send fonts compressed.

NOTE: Supporting files such as placed scans or graphic elements must be supplied in CMYK values or grayscale. Image resolution must be at least 200 dpi.
